CBMDA Entry Level Programmes

Apart from Distance Learning, China Britain Medical and Dental Academy also provides a full range of classroom and hands-on courses in Aesthetic Dentistry, Orthodontics and Implant Dentistry. Whilst there are a number of training courses available for Aesthetic Dentistry, you can be rest assured that CBMDA is your number one choice. Firstly, CBMDA dental branch is led by industry recognised Prosthodontists, Orthodontists and Dental Implantologists. The available central London training locations for our CBMDA students include the prestigious Harley Street, The Royal Society of Medicine, University College London Eastman Dental Institute and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. 

 

Our programme advisors, clinical teachers are all experts in their field, come from a variety of backgrounds whether that mean they are a General Dentist, Prosthodontist, Orthodontist or Dental Implantologist. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge from each of them. We like to think our training courses make it fun to learn, whilst gaining the maximum amount of practical ‘hands-on’ training with live models and the theory aspect of the course is completed via our online resource prior to attendance.

1 week full time entry level classroom and clinical training

Overview

 

The China Britain Medical and Dental Academy's entry-level five-day practical course covers popular topics in aesthetic dentistry.  

It's held over five consecutive days (i.e. one full week) and includes hands-on tuition every day.

The course aims to introduce step-by-step clinical procedures, materials and treatment planning concepts on the following topics: 

  • Occlusal records

  • Dental photography

  • Preparations for anterior veneers and crowns

  • Direct composite restorations (anterior and posterior)

  • Atraumatic extraction, site preservation and anterior crown lengthening

  • Cementation of etchable ceramics

Structure

 

You'll learn about the following areas:

  • Aesthetic smile evaluation, pre-treatment case documentation, treatment planning

  • Occlusal records for the aesthetic case (casts, face-bows, interocclusal registration, semi-adjustable articulators)

  • Dental photography

  • Anterior and posterior composite restorations/adhesive dentistry

  • Ceramic restorations: veneers and crowns

  • Aesthetic metal-ceramic crowns and bridges

  • Aesthetic periodontics: anterior crown lengthening, extraction-site preservation

  • Aesthetics cement and cementation techniques for ceramic restorations

  • Interdisciplinary treatment planning for complex aesthetic problems

Completion

 

By the end of the course you should have:

  • improved knowledge of the principles and practice of aesthetic dentistry, including direct and indirect restorations

  • an improved ability to carry out the practical procedures relevant in aesthetic dentistry

  • an improved understanding of the integration of different dental disciplines to produce superior aesthetic outcomes

Entry requirements

 

Qualification and employment status

  • A dental qualification is acceptable to China Britain Medical and Dental Academy.

  • Employment as a dentist in a dental practice, dental school, hospital, or community dental services environment.

 

Access to facilities and equipment

  • Adequate clinical facilities and access to patients requiring treatment relevant to your subject area.

  • Approved video equipment, as part of the monitoring process (advice on this will be given in the first Intensive Face-to-Face course).

 

English requirements should be any of the following:

  • IELTS (overall score of 6.5, with 6.0 in the Writing and Speaking modules)

  • Chinese students attending clinical days will require an appropriate travel visa according to CBMDA regulations. Further advice is obtainable via CBMDA International Students Adviser under CBMDA Services

Learning and teaching

You'll learn through a combination of:

  • 50% lectures, interactive seminars, treatment planning

  • 50% skills laboratory and clinic hands-on training. 

 

There will be ample phantom head practice of clinical procedures and video demonstrations, as well as clinic practice of records and photography and a review of current literature.
